PRA Liquidity XBRL Reporting with Olive Octagon

The first draft of the PRA Liquidity reporting taxonomy was released on 31 March 2025, with feedback from stakeholders requested by 30 April 2025.

We went through the taxonomy and provided feedback. It's a rather technical read, but if you're interested then see our feedback document.

Our simple Excel-based solution based on the public working draft (PWD) taxonomy is still available for free so you can explore the templates and provide any additional feedback you may have to the Bank of England.

While out PRA Liquidity XBRL reporting tool is free, it's also a good opportunity for you to make sure you're ready in plenty of time for when the reporting goes live.

Easy-to-use guided approach

When you access our PRA Liquidity reporting tool through your browser, you're presented with a very easy to follow workflow to get you from start to finish. If you can book a flight, you can use our software.

After downloading the template file, it's over to Excel to fill in your data.

The template file is a native Excel file and can easily be completed using either an installed version of Excel or by using Excel in the browser if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription.

The template file should look familiar because we've deliberately made it look as close as possible to what the regulator publishes.

To run validations on your completed template file and convert it to the final XBRL output file, you simply upload the template file into your browser and press the relevant button.

When you upload your template file, it stays in your browser's memory and nothing is sent to our servers.

Even if you have validation warnings or errors, you can still generate the XBRL output file.

More detail on PRA Liquidity XBRL reporting

We have a news article that gives an introduction to PRA Liquidity reporting. In addition to this, here are some key snippets of latest PRA Liquidity reporting news.

Reporting Taxonomy

The draft taxonomy currently released is the Bank of England Insurance Liquidity XBRL Taxonomy PWD.

At the moment this is a standalone taxonomy for PRA Liquidity reporting, but we imagine this will be merged in to the main Solvency UK taxonomy.

Consultation

The consultation on reporting officially closed on 30 April 2025 but in a reply to us the Bank of England said to let them know if we had any more feedback later, so they seem open to further comments.

However, this window may be closing soon with the final policy statement due in Q3 2025.

Go Live

On 17 June 2025, the Bank of England issued an update stating:

"The final policy statement will be published by the end of Q3 2025 and we are now targeting an implementation date for insurance liquidity reporting in the second half of 2026."

So there's still plenty of time to get your reporting solution in place.
